We once laid in the grass after staying up all night to watch the sunrise. I told you I could hear the world growing. And then one day you land and transform into something you never could have imagined.”

“This is for your grandmother,
who walked a thousand miles on broken glass
to find that single patch of grass to plant a family tree
where the fruit would grow to laugh.”
Andrea Gibson

My grandmother once wrote of her concern that children, especially grandchildren, would probably never know their stories down through the roots “Of what happened in this world before their arrival in it.” She would probably smile knowing that my favorite word/concept is Ubuntu.
Ubuntu : I am because we are.
