This was the world’s largest landfill, located in Staten Island NY. Now, it’s a 2,200 acre park and nature reserve. Wells scattered throughout the park collect subterraneous natural gases from the landfill decomposition and send them to various processing centers on the property to be broken down to be used for energy and sold.
