Our Earth

Freshkill1This was the world’s largest landfill, located in Staten Island NY. Now, it’s a 2,200 acre park and nature reserve. Wells scattered throughout the park collect subterraneous natural gases from the landfill decomposition and send them to various processing centers on the property to be broken down to be used for energy and sold.

There are ever growing numbers of organizations establishing greener ways to reduce the unfathomably enormous garbage footprint human kind has created. Freshkill Park is an example of a large scale endeavor, but there are also so many small scale actions that we can all take.

Freshkill2The earth that we collectively leave for the future is impacted by all of our individual contributions. How much trash litters the path that we pave is entirely up to us.
